The Grand Opening of Lakewood Ranch Medical Center was held Aug. 26 to 28. The 120-bed acute care facility officially accepted its first patient and had its first baby delivered Sept. 1.

Lakewood Ranch Medical Center features a technologically advanced Women's Center, Surgery Center and Emergency Services Center. More than 120 physicians have been credentialed for the medical staff, which provides primary and specialty care.

Julian Maxi Milian was delivered by cesarean birth at 9:22 AM Sept. 1 by Jorge E. Alvarez, MD. Julian, the son of John and Barbara Milian of Parrish, weighed 9 pounds and was 20 3/4 inches long. Pictured with Julian are his parents and 14-year-old brother, Jonathan.
