We're Ready When You Need "Patients expect high quality and
safe emergency care, and that's what
they can expect at LWRMC," says
Susan Domagala, RN, Director of
Critical Care Services at LWRMC.
Experienced healthcare
professionals care for patients
suffering from heart attacks, strokes,
acute illnesses, broken bones and
other medical emergencies. Nurses
have additional training in pediatric
emergency care because of the large
number of children who visit the ED.
In addition, hospital specialists --
including women's health physicians,
cardiologists, neurologists and
orthopedic surgeons -- are available to
help manage medical emergencies.
Patients at LWRMC do not
spend time in long registration lines
or receive emergency care in large
treatment bays with other patients.
Instead, privacy starts the moment
they arrive at the ED. The department
has two private triage rooms where
nurses perform initial assessments.
Staff members register patients at the
bedside so they can begin treatment
as quickly as possible. And patients
receive emergency care in one of 15
private treatment rooms.
"We go the extra mile to help make
ED visits more positive for patients,"
Domagala says. "Most rooms have
televisions to make patients more
comfortable. We have videos and other
activities to help distract children
when they're not feeling well."
